What Should I Write Next?

Hey, folks, got a question, along with a spiffy poll for ya. Feel free to vote or ignore it. Up to you–but as the saying goes, if you don’t vote, don’t complain later!

So here’s the situation:

I am committed to 3 ROAD TO BABYLON books between now and the end of 2017. After book #3, I will take a brief break from the series in order to write something else. Variety, as they say, is the spice of life, and you can only write so many apocalyptic books before you need something…lighter. Or heavier. Basically, just something else.

Now here’s where you come in: What should I write to kick start 2018, before diving back into R2B #4?

Choices, choices!

What Should I Write Next?

  • New Non-Purge Series Book #1 (37%, 49 Votes)
  • Allie Krycek #4 (21%, 28 Votes)
  • New Non-Purge Standalone Story (16%, 21 Votes)
  • Red Sky #3 (15%, 20 Votes)
  • Other (Explain in the Comments) (10%, 13 Votes)

Follow up with Danny, Lara, et al. after the Battle of Houston.

    • Joy June 26, 2017 at 4:48 pm

Everything always stops after the final battle, and you’re left wondering what happens next. Don’t be that guy. Finish your storyline what happens after. How do they rebuild, what’s the sex of Danny’s baby, how do they get the other blue eyes that are still out there. I loved reading the books so much I started reading them over from the first one.

  2. Damon June 26, 2017 at 11:08 am

I’d love some more Babylon side-story books, maybe a prequel of Will and Danny in the war and SWAT.

  3. Michele June 26, 2017 at 11:18 am

    I’d love Keo’s back story.

  4. Megan Rennie June 26, 2017 at 11:31 am

I love your writing so much. I’d love to read another Allie book because she’s so strong and wonderful but I was hooked on you from Babylon and I don’t know if you’ve been playing with the idea but I’d love to read about the military group that was in the mountain and see how they were surviving or if they survived after Lara’s message went out. I know that could be a really big string to pull at but I’ll read anything you write.

I will always be happy for more Purge books but I would enjoy a stand alone book. As a reader, going from series to series does not offer the variety you mentioned, at least for me. I still enjoy series, but I also like the option of a stand alone. Post Apocalyptic works great for you, so I would enjoy another in that genre.

  6. Maria June 26, 2017 at 11:53 am

I love the apocalyptic scenarios that start from when it all goes wrong so I’d love a new series with that setting!

  7. Felicia June 26, 2017 at 12:54 pm

I would love another post apocalyptic series with whole new characters and setting. Loved the Purge series and will actually read anything you write.

  8. Sue June 26, 2017 at 2:49 pm

I another who would love a new post apocalyptic series from when it all goes wrong until….

i think that being how well you created the atmosphere for the purge of babylon series you should try doing a book even a series about the world losing all power but put your twist on it to make it unique and even better than anthing that already exists.

I would love a series chronicling Will and Danny’s adventure from their first meeting up too that fateful day in the purge. I miss Will and Danny.

Shadow Operators! If you’ve gone off that story line then red sky 3

    • Sam June 29, 2017 at 1:45 pm

I’ve been working on the book on and off, and one of these days I’ll release the whole thing as one book for you guys. I just can’t guarantee it’ll be anytime soon. But ONE DAY…

I’d love to see either more of the Babylon universe continuing Danny’s story rebuilding and cleaning up the remnants of the blue eyes empire… or…

A new story line or stand alone story set in the Babylon universe from a new character (or set of characters!) perspective.

What happened on the army bases that Sam and Danny come across?

What happened at other large metropolitan areas the night of the Purge? Did others make it out of a city, only to be taken by the blue eyes later and lose the fight before Sam and Danny did?

Where did the other blue eyes come from? Were they strong personalities stalked and recruited the way others were?

    • Sam June 29, 2017 at 1:45 pm

Hey Duane. A lot of those questions are answered or WILL be answered in THE ROAD TO BABYLON series. 😉

      • Duanr June 29, 2017 at 7:44 pm

And this is why we love you, Sam. I’m looking forward to the read! I just preordered the first book.

Thanks for revisiting the world caused by the Purge. It’s among my favorite books in recent memory.

        Cheers!

Sam, I’ve read Allie’s series, the Purge series (starting on second go-’round), Red Sky books, & Glory Box. These people are my friends. Sorta. You know what I mean. Anyway, whatever you write, I’ll read. And read again. Keep up the good work.

  13. Leign June 30, 2017 at 2:27 am

More of Danny and Co please.

  14. C July 1, 2017 at 1:19 am

Just read Glory Box will be out in less than two days! I’m SO stoked! Thanks and great job BTW.

  15. Jane July 3, 2017 at 9:25 am

Bite the bullet and keep on The Road to Babylon! I am 66, not great health and this series has helped me keep on going! Lost so many people including my son, at 39. A Veteran. Man, love this story!

  16. Sally Sigman July 3, 2017 at 9:44 am

Im not sure were done with the purgeverse Sam.

  17. Theresa Lyons July 3, 2017 at 10:28 am

I’ve enjoyed all of your series and have read almost every book that you’ve written-some more than once. Your stories are great. The new Red Sky series grabbed me from the first page. You are my favorite writer by far. Please keep writing. I’m looking forward to the next Red Sky book.

  18. Quasimodo July 3, 2017 at 10:57 am

I agree with Keith above: ” Follow up with Danny and Lara et al after the Battle of Houston. ” I like Keo but I really do miss WILL! Darn!

  19. Murray Gottselig July 3, 2017 at 10:38 pm

what happened to the Operatives series-how about another book in this series

  20. Tina Ingram July 4, 2017 at 10:03 am

Another Allie book please. They are excellent reads!

  21. Donna Ableman July 11, 2017 at 4:57 pm

I vote for another apocalyptic series, but no matter what you write, I’ll read it.

  22. Debbie July 13, 2017 at 9:41 pm

Please another Allie book. She is so good. So hard to find female action as balanced as this one. Anyway, thanks for the three we have.

  23. Colleen July 13, 2017 at 10:19 pm

I’d like to see you write a totally new story that is non-apocalyptic and has a major romance in it where the major characters in the romance do live happily ever after. 🙂 It’d be interesting to see how you handle the romance aspects. I did like how you handled Will and Laura in Road to Babylon, but it was so sad in the end for them.

  24. Robert Lafferty August 24, 2017 at 10:03 am

You are a brilliant guy and a great writer. Find a way to bring Will back because there are still a lot of the blue eyes still running around out there. I don’t mean it will be easy but you will figure it out.

Also….there are only three book series that I have read more than once. Yours is one of them.

    Keep up the good work.
